Project Background
In early 2025, a Mauritius local enterprise placed an order with Nucleon for two sets of 10-ton HD European single-girder overhead cranes. The client’s core demand was to solve material handling difficulties in workshops with limited vertical height, while requiring the lifting equipment to feature high operating efficiency and low maintenance costs for long-term stable operation.
Our sales and technical teams quickly sorted out the key on-site pain points through in-depth demand communication:
- The workshop has extremely restricted headroom, where conventional overhead cranes cannot meet the installation and operating space standards.
- Frequent and continuous daily operation requires equipment with high stability and excellent economic performance throughout the service cycle.
- The factory has strict on-site noise control requirements, aiming to build a low-noise and comfortable working environment.

Customized Solution Design
To match the client’s actual workshop conditions and operating needs, our team launched two differentiated overhead crane schemes for comprehensive comparison and selection, covering economical conventional models and high-end European-standard models.
Option 1: LD Type Traditional Single Girder Overhead Crane
This conventional model adopts a simple and mature structural design, equipped with classic CD1/MD1 wire rope electric hoists, serving as a cost-effective basic lifting solution for budget-sensitive projects.
Features: Low initial procurement cost, simple structure and easy installation, suitable for short-term and low-frequency lifting scenarios.
Configuration & Deficiencies:
- Fixed-speed motor drive with single operating mode
- Traditional lubrication structure requiring regular manual maintenance
- High operating noise of around 85dB, failing to meet low-noise environmental requirements
- Large main beam height, occupying excessive vertical space and poor adaptability to low-clearance workshops
Option 2: HD Type European Standard Single Girder Overhead Crane
Designed and manufactured in strict accordance with European FEM standards, this model is fitted with high-performance NR European electric hoists. Although the one-time investment is slightly higher, it delivers superior comprehensive benefits in long-term operation, energy saving and maintenance.
Features: Compact structure, ultra-low noise, energy saving and high efficiency, maintenance-free design, perfectly adapting to high-frequency operation and limited space scenarios.
High-End Standard Configuration:
- Full variable-frequency stepless speed regulation system, reducing comprehensive energy consumption by 30%
- IP55 fully protected maintenance-free geared motor, greatly lowering later maintenance pressure
- Ultra-quiet operation with noise strictly controlled below 75dB, compliant with environmental protection standards
- Optimized streamlined structure, reducing headroom occupation by 15% and maximizing workshop space utilization

Life-Cycle Cost & Benefit Analysis
Compared with the traditional LD scheme, the HD European crane has an 18% higher upfront cost, but it shows obvious advantages in long-term operational value:
- Scenario Adaptability: LD cranes apply to low-intensity intermittent work; HD cranes are more suitable for high-frequency continuous production with higher return on investment
- Maintenance Cost: Daily maintenance expenditure of HD cranes is 40% lower than that of traditional models
- Energy Saving Performance: Matching variable-frequency control and high-efficiency motors realizes significant power saving
- Service Life: The design service life reaches 15 years, 5 years longer than the 10-year service life of conventional cranes
After evaluating equipment performance, space adaptability and long-term economic benefits, the client finally confirmed the HD European standard solution. All equipment has passed full-standard factory debugging and testing. The actual measured headroom is only 1.2m, which is far better than the 1.8m headroom demand of traditional cranes, fully satisfying the low-clearance operating conditions of the Mauritius workshop.
